Students receive awards at the aldravista poetry contest

Through Samarco's Environmental Management, public school students learned about the literary style of poetry

Students from public schools in Antônio Pereira, district of Ouro Preto, Santa Cruz do Escalvado and Rio Doce participated in the aldravista poetry contest between September 20th and 29th. With the support of Samarco, workshops and activities were held in celebration of Tree Day, on September 21st, with the purpose of introducing students to aldravista poetry, a literary style that was born in Mariana.

Students wrote short poems of a maximum of six words, according to the aldravista literary style, which challenges the writer to be concise and precise in content.

In Antônio Pereira, district of Ouro Preto, the activities took place at the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS), on September 20th, with the participation of approximately 30 students from the 6th to 9th grade of Elementary School and High School.  The first place in each public school received a trophy, an educational game and a book kit donated by the publisher Aldrava Letras e Artes. The workshop was presented by teachers-poets José Benedito Donadon Leal and Andreia Donadon Leal.

In the municipalities of Santa Cruz do Escalvado and Rio Doce, public school teachers became multipliers of aldravista poetry by participating in workshops with teachers-poets. Elementary School students participated in the contest. The top three in each municipality received a trophy and an educational game. The contest took place on the 22nd and 29th of September.

"The aldravista workshops for students were a success. There was involvement of schools, students and employees of CRAS, who participated producing excellent results with quality aldravista poems on Tree Day', in a demonstration that poetry is a safe and necessary path for the realization of environmental education", highlighted the teacher- poet Andreia Donadon Leal.

Samarco also carried out actions such as visits by community leaders from the districts of Antônio Pereira, Camargos and Santa Rita Durão to the Center for Environmental, Social and Forestry Development (Cedasf). In Espírito Santo, lectures, planting, ecological inspections and interventions were held in the municipality of Muniz Freire and in the communities of Guanabara, Mãe-bá, Goembê, Belo Horizonte, in Anchieta, and Meaipe, in Guarapari.
