Samarco received the gold seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol program for the 2021 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory, this Monday (Oct-17). The company was certified for having achieved the highest level of qualification in the program. The document's certification guarantees reliability, traceability and robustness in the reporting of GHG emissions issued by the company.
“Receiving this seal indicates that the GHG inventory procedure is on the right track and reinforces our commitment to continue in this process”, says Environment analyst Marcia Bragato.
The Brazilian GHG Protocol program classifies GHG inventories with gold, silver or bronze seals, according to the transparency and completeness of the data issued. Samarco's Environmental Management is responsible for building the inventory, which is aligned with the purpose of carrying out mining differently, in a safer and more sustainable manner.
“This seal shows that Samarco is developing its decarbonization initiatives gradually, but with solidity”, says the general manager of Sustainability, Daniel Medeiros.
