The professionals hired or promoted as supervisors in various areas at the Germano complex in Mariana (MG) and the Ubu complex in Anchieta (ES) were introduced during a meeting organized by Samarco on Monday (19/02). The recent hires made in the last six months are part of the Supervisors Program, which is one of the company's initiatives to increase the representation of women in the industry.
Before taking up positions in areas such as mining, beneficiation, automation and instrumentation, maintenance, production and port activities, the 16 women (11 in Germano and five in Ubu) will go through a skills development program, which offers a series of training activities, until April of this year.
Among the themes addressed in the training are work safety, the environment and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, instruments for people management and dealing with the specificities of our business. "We know the potential of these employees and we want to provide them with a deeper understanding of the business and help develop their skills, so that they are successful and satisfied in performing their work, on board with our goal of doing mining differently. It's also important to note that we prioritize hiring people from the communities where we operate," said Samarco's Attraction and Development Manager, Adriana Gomes.
"As a native of Mariana, I'm happy to work for such a representative company. I see Samarco as a different kind of mining company, concerned with environmental issues and safety. I feel welcomed and respected by the company and I identify with the values that are close to my principles. I'm very grateful for taking part in this program, which is a time of professional development. I see it as a period of transformation," said Mining supervisor Raiza Kelen Santos.
