Discuss, clarify doubts and listen carefully to the communities that host Samarco in Anchieta and Guarapari to strengthen relationships with local residents of Mãe-Bá, Ubu, Recanto do Sol, Belo Horizonte, Meaípe, Benevente, Porto Grande and Parati, in Espírito Santo. These were the objectives of the eight meetings held from March 26th to April 18th, which brought together 226 residents of the region.
“It was an opportunity to present the socio-environmental actions developed in the region and to strengthen partnership relationships with the communities in the territories where the company operates", highlighted the company's Socio-Institutional Relations analyst, Priscila Malafaia .
The meetings addressed topics such as the Socioeconomic Indicators Monitoring Program – PMISE, which aims at understanding the social and economic conditions of the territories where Samarco operates. There are 168 indicators continuously monitored and assessed.
One of the main focuses is the analysis of the impacts determined through diagnoses carried out in neighboring territories. Based on this data, Samarco aligns its impact reduction and investment strategies with the demands of host communities and municipalities. On the occasion, environmental controls related to wastewater, atmospheric and water treatments were also presented.
During the meetings, Samarco’s representatives were able to clarify community questions on participation in the company's selection processes and present the qualification/technical courses offered in areas of direct influence. They also addressed actions carried out by HR to encourage prioritization of hiring local workforce, such as a presentation of the Attraction Program and Porta de Entrada (New Opportunities) Programs, which involves the hiring of trainees, apprentices and interns, with a total of 111 vacancies available for ES residents.
