Through initiatives held between April and May, the company presented internship opportunities and virtual reality experiences to over 5,000 university students across both states
Samarco continues to expand its connection with the academic community by participating in major career fairs and events tied to academic environments. Last Wednesday, May 27, the company took part in the 3rd Company Showcase (Mostra de Empresas) at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). The event, which featured booths from companies in the mining industry, was part of a series of initiatives developed by the company alongside university students in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo throughout April and May.
At Samarco’s booth at UFOP, students engaged with the "Samarco Roulette" (a Q&A game about the company), received corporate gifts, experienced a virtual reality immersion into the production process ("From Mine to Port") using VR goggles, and sampled guava cookies produced by the EmpreenDelas project — an initiative focused on training female entrepreneurs and teenagers in the municipality of Antônio Pereira.
The event also featured the lecture "Paths to the Future," delivered by Samarco HR Analyst Sara Esther Trindade, who provided guidance on selection processes and career readiness.
Presence in April and Early May
UFOP participation was added to two other recent initiatives. From April 13 to 16, Samarco attended the Mercado em Conexão, a career fair hosted by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte, featuring an interactive booth, virtual reality tools, and gamified activities. The company also took part in the event’s lecture program: Innovation and Development Manager Bruno Pimentel participated in the panel “Collaboration and Innovation,” while Planning, Management, and Technological Performance Supervisor Anatelli Heringer spoke on “Mining 4.0: The Impact of AI.”
On May 13, Samarco marked its presence at the 7th Career Fair of the Vila Velha University (UVV) in Vila Velha (ES), which brought together 28 organizations. Guided by the topic "AI and Employability: The New Professional in the Market," the event drove debates on workplace transformations and the competencies required from new professionals.
For HR Analyst Vânia Carriço, these actions reinforce a consistent strategy to engage with the academic world. "This direct contact with students allows us to translate, in practice, who we are, how we operate, and our business strategic challenges, strengthening the attraction of talent aligned with our corporate culture and the future we want to build," she highlights.
By investing in initiatives targeted at university students in both states where it operates, Samarco contributes to developing and qualifying professionals who are better prepared for market challenges, while strengthening its employer brand among younger generations.
