Samarco signs the Service Order for the renovation of the Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes Assad in Anchieta

An R$ 800,000 investment through PIIS reinforces the mining company's commitment to preserving the municipality's historical and cultural heritage

Samarco Mineração signed the Service Order on Thursday, June 18, authorizing the start of renovation works at the Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes Assad in Anchieta, Espírito Santo (ES). The investment, made possible through the company's Institutional and Social Investment Policy (PIIS), totals R$ 800,000. Of this amount, R$ 400,000 has already been transferred to the municipality, with the remaining funds to be released as the renovation progresses.

The Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes Assad houses the only municipal-level collection listed as heritage and recognized by the National Museum Registry, maintained by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram). The venue welcomes students, tourists, and researchers through the "Conhecendo e valorizando minha história” (Knowing and Valuing My History) project, which offers guided tours of Anchieta's historical site and promotes the appreciation of the municipality's cultural heritage.

According to Gabriel Garshagen Gonçalves, Samarco's Institutional Relations Analyst, the investment reflects the company's commitment to the development of the municipalities where it operates. "Through PIIS, we seek to support initiatives that have a real and lasting impact on communities, and the renovation of the Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes Assad is a tangible example of this," the analyst said.

In addition to the investment in the Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes Assad, Samarco transferred R$ 420,000 to the municipality for the acquisition of a passenger van and a box trailer to support the cultural sector.

Support for culture, traditions, and the local economy

The investment in the Casa da Cultura Angelina Lopes is part of Samarco's broader efforts in the Anchieta and Guarapari region. In 2025, the company supported the renovation and expansion of the Casa de Artesanato de Mãe Bá, including the delivery of a braiding machine and, in March 2026, a cattail drying kiln. During rainy and high-humidity periods, the facility reduced the drying time of the cattails used to produce traditional handmade ropes from up to 80 days to just two days.

The Feira da Gente program, a monthly marketplace showcasing and selling local products, benefited 112 producers across 13 communities in both municipalities in 2025. The initiative continues in 2026.

In neighboring Guarapari, Samarco also funded, through PIIS, the preparation of the municipality's Tourism Supply Assessment, delivered in June 2026 in partnership with Guarapari em Ação (GEA) and the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES), with an investment of R$ 300,000.
