The program integrates technology into the school curriculum, trains and qualifies teachers, and is expected to benefit approximately 500 students in communities across both states throughout 2026
In 2026, the Caminhos Samarco program enters a new phase, marked by a deeper educational impact and the consolidation of the project within the school environment. The initiative, which began in Espírito Santo in early June and in Minas Gerais on June 12, has now evolved into an ongoing classroom-based initiative, expanding learning opportunities and strengthening its educational legacy in the communities it serves.
The new format prioritizes the integration of technology and educational robotics into the curriculum, integrated with teacher training, in alignment with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the National Digital Education Policy (Law No. 14.533/2023). Furthermore, the project helps make learning more meaningful while encouraging students' interest in technology and innovation.
In total, 15 schools will participate across Minas Gerais (Mariana, Ouro Preto, Santa Bárbara, and Catas Altas) and Espírito Santo (Anchieta, Guarapari, Muniz Freire, and Alegre). The program is expected to reach approximately 500 students and train and qualify 40 teachers.
The program will consist of three stages, running from June to December 2026. First, teachers receive pedagogical and technical training and qualification, along with instructional materials and technology kits. Next, they lead activities with students, organized in groups, focused on developing prototypes using programming and the STEAM approach. The final stage is the Hackathon, where students present solutions to real-world challenges faced by their communities. The event will be held separately in each state.
According to Samarco's Social Impact Coordinator, Priscila Malafaia, the evolution of the program reinforces the company's commitment to education. "We are strengthening an initiative that goes beyond isolated actions by embedding technology in schools and supporting educators and students in building the essential knowledge and skills for the future," she highlights.
