The work was carried out by Samarco and included the access junction to the district up to the original community of Paracatu de Baixo.
Drivers and passengers traveling between the Monsenhor Horta junction and the original community of Paracatu de Baixo, in Mariana (MG), now make the journey on a revitalized road with new signaling. The improvement in the road infrastructure was made by Samarco and assures higher safety for the users.
The interventions included milling the old pavement (removal of the surface layer of asphalt), application of a new layer, installation of horizontal (painting of the roads) and vertical (installation of signs) signaling, as well as cleaning and recovery of the drainage devices. In addition, the culverts on the internal access to Monsenhor Horta were also raised.
A total of 18 kilometers of work was carried out, from the access junction to the district of Monsenhor Horta to the intersection of Rua Gualaxo and Rua Furquim, in Paracatu de Baixo. For this purpose, more than 13 thousand tons of asphalt were used, corresponding to the weight of approximately 700 loaded trucks, and about 63 thousand linear meters of horizontal road signaling.
The purpose was to improve the road infrastructure and mobility in the territory. “The completion of the work provides more quality and safety in the traffic in the district of Monsenhor Horta, benefiting the community and those who travel through the area. All the improvements made demonstrate our commitment to the community, always guided by dialogue and social responsibility,” the general Projects manager, Eduardo Moreira, says.
The road intervention in the district of Monsenhor Horta is part of the New Rio Doce Agreement, being one of the conditions for the construction and delivery of the new district of Paracatu. The works were completed in August this year and handed over to the Municipality of Mariana at the end of November, upon signing a settlement agreement. With the formalization of the transfer, the maintenance of the road now is under the responsibility of the Public Power.
