In 2024, the Samarco Aberta program, which opens the company's doors to visitors in order to strengthen relations with society, allowed 2,000 people to visit the Ubu and Germano complexes, in Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais. The initiative aims at increasing the transparency of Samarco's processes, guided by the principles of safe and sustainable mining.
Between January and December of last year, approximately 140 visits were made to the Germano and Ubu units, with an average of 12 visits per month. In the agendas, family members, residents of neighboring communities and participants in the Environmental Education Program (PEA) and the Força Local Program learned about the company's operations. Samarco also received institutional, academic, technical and shareholder visits.
Of the total number of visits received, approximately 30% were aimed at people from the communities, reaching an average of three monthly agendas involving this audience.
The families of employees were also highlighted in the Samarco Aberta Program. There were 11 family visits carried out in 2024, in Germano and Ubu, with the presence of 417 people.
According to the evaluations, 100% of the people believe that the experience contributed to expanding their knowledge and improving their perception of Samarco's performance. 90% of them rated the experience as excellent and 10% as very good. "It is a very gratifying result and encourages us to continue improving the Visits Program. Samarco Aberta is an excellent opportunity to get closer to our stakeholders and exchange knowledge, reinforcing a relationship based on dialogue and trust", says the Corporate Communications Manager, Danielli Gaiotti.
"Although the community is very close to Samarco, many of our students were unfamiliar with it and learned about the company's activities during a visit. The program is a great opportunity to do so", said Glauciane Aparecida Batista, principal of the Escola Estadual Professora Daura de Carvalho Neto, in Antônio Pereira, Minas Gerais.
Davi José da Silva Souza, a high school student at EMEIEF Professora Maria Luiza Flores, located in the community of Mãe-Bá, in Espírito Santo, one of the visitors to the Ubu Complex in 2024, said that it was rewarding to participate in the program. "I would like to thank you, we don't have many opportunities to leave school and get to know a company like Samarco".
Scheduling – Visits by people served by the PEA and family members of the company's workers are scheduled monthly. Those interested in participating in visits to Samarco can request them by email: programadevisitas.mg@samarco.com, for the Minas Gerais unit, and programadevisitas.es@samarco.com, for the Espírito Santo unit.
