Samarco delivers school kits to students in neighboring communities in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo

Samarco, with the support of 60 members of its Volunteer Program, delivered 1,000 school kits to students near its operations in Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais in early February. The initiative reinforces the company's commitment to the communities where it operates, consolidating a closer relationship based on social responsibility.

In the State of Espírito Santo, there were six actions, five in Anchieta and one in Guarapari. In Minas Gerais, two actions were developed. The kits, consisting of backpacks and school supplies, provided support for families at the beginning of the school year.

"The partnership between Samarco and the community is essential for the sustainable, healthy development of both parties. It was a very organized action, with a demonstration of affection and care. For the community, the initiative was important and will help families," said Lenimara Pereira, principal of two schools in Espírito Santo.

The Secretary of Education of Anchieta, Shuana Louzada Cypriano Simas, assessed that the initiative is extremely positive, as it represents a direct investment in the education of children and adolescents in the communities. “In addition to contributing to reducing the costs of school supplies for families, this action reinforces the importance of corporate social responsibility, demonstrating the company's commitment to the educational and social development of the region. The distribution of the kits can also favor student engagement, providing better conditions for learning and encouraging them to stay in school.”

For one of the Samarco volunteers, Alysson Werneck, general manager of Operations in Ubu, the action was an enriching experience. “Participating in this action was very rewarding. I believe that volunteer actions change people from the inside out. Seeing the children happy and knowing that we have made a small contribution to their educational development was something very special,” he commented.

According to Rafael Botelho, general manager of Social Responsibility, in addition to contributing to the education and development of neighboring communities, we had the opportunity to reinforce the values of social responsibility and solidarity within our company. “The action not only benefited the students, but also inspired our employees and contractors to increasingly engage in projects that make a difference in the society where Samarco operates. We are very pleased with the results and committed to continuing to contribute to building a better future for everyone,” he emphasized.

The actions were marked by a playful and joyful atmosphere, with the presence of children's entertainers and the distribution of popcorn and cotton candy, carried out with the support of Samarco volunteers who actively engaged in organizing and making deliveries, in addition to offering the necessary support during the event.
