Samarco Introduces New Directors of Compliance, Governance, and Audit, and Commercial and Marketing

In line with its strategic planning and gradual recovery process, Samarco revised its organizational structure and announced the arrival of two new directors on September 22nd. Akira Ano takes over as Director of Compliance, Governance, and Audit, while Paulo Schottz takes over as the company's new Commercial and Marketing Director.

The Compliance, Governance, and Audit department was created to strengthen corporate management and align Samarco with market best practices. The new director will report directly to the Board of Directors, ensuring the necessary autonomy to promote transparency, integrity, and security in the execution of processes. Ano will be responsible for the Governance, Compliance, and Audit departments of the 3rd line of defense.

With over 15 years of experience in large multinationals such as Ambev, BRF, and Braskem, Akira Ano has built a solid career in the legal and compliance fields. He worked on implementing governance programs, led legal and risk departments in Brazil and abroad, and spent three years in Mexico, serving on internal and external governance committees.

"I arrive at Samarco with great energy and a spirit of contribution to the next phases and challenges ahead. I believe that governance and compliance are much more than controls or processes, they are essential drivers that motivate us to live by the values of a more ethical and enduring company,” emphasized Akira Ano.

Paulo Schottz takes over as Commercial and Marketing Director, with the mission of strengthening strategic relationships with customers and partners in the context of the company's recovery and growth.

With 16 years of experience at CSN, 11 of which were in the Hong Kong office, Schottz led the company's global iron ore marketing, in addition to working in areas such as international sales, ore purchasing, chartering, market intelligence, and sales management. He also has experience at Mitsubishi Corporation, MBR, Cadam, and Arthur Andersen.

Schottz is excited about the new challenge at Samarco, a company he considers a benchmark in the market. “It will be great to be part of this major growth recovery project, seeking to actively contribute alongside this winning team,” said the executive.
