Samarco has launched a series of educational content focused on the biodiversity of the Rio Doce Basin, with an emphasis on environmental education and the dissemination of qualified technical information among residents and those interested in the reparation efforts.
The initiative brings together twelve mini-documentaries and four thematic videos, in addition to games, books, and educational materials developed under the Terrestrial Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan and the Aquatic Fauna Recovery and Conservation Action Plan, in compliance with the New Rio Doce Agreement.

The mini-documentaries, available on the official Reparation YouTube channel, address the relationship between the Rio Doce and the Atlantic Forest, the importance of invertebrates, and the conservation of emblematic species, such as the northern muriqui (Brachyteles hypoxanthus) and the tapir, as well as the impacts of climate change and exotic species on native ecosystems.
“This content reinforces that protecting biodiversity goes beyond legal compliance and is directly associated with understanding the ecosystem services essential to life — from the water we consume to the balance of forests — as a foundation for the basin’s future sustainability,” explains Samarco's Environment Manager, Brígida Maioli.
The educational materials are also available in the Reparação online library (link 1 and link 2) and are disseminated via Samarco Comunica, the institutional WhatsApp channel.
