The new facility provides an office exclusively for victims of domestic violence, in addition to improvements in the structure for serving the public.
Last Monday, the 21st, the new headquarters of the Civil Police Station in Mariana was opened, now located on Avenida Getúlio Vargas, in the old Courthouse building. The ceremony was attended by several authorities and representatives of Samarco, marking a step forward for public safety in the municipality.
The inauguration of the new building meets a request from the population. “The renovation has brought a great improvement to our facilities, ensuring that everyone is adequately accommodated and with the dignity necessary to provide a quality service to the population. The building fully meets our needs and will have a very positive impact on serving the public. We created an notary office specialized in domestic violence, with more humanized service. Samarco's support was fundamental for this improvement, increasing the efficiency of the Civil Police in Mariana”, highlighted police chief Marcelo Bangoim Fernandes.
For Samarco's Socio-Institutional Development Expert, Guilherme Louzada, the investment in the construction works reinforces Samarco's commitment to the region. "Although we have the assumption of local hiring, mining projects implemented here occasionally use labor from other regions. The increase in the floating population increases the pressure for the use of public services, so this investment is an important partnership in the area of Public Safety", stated Guilherme Louzada.
With the new structure of the police station, community service has been improved, offering more comfortable facilities, appropriate spaces and an easily accessible location. In addition, it will have specialized service and an exclusive space to provide a welcoming environment for women who are victims of domestic violence.
