In full compliance with the New Rio Doce Agreement, ratified by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) in November 2024, Samarco informs that payment of the Emergency Financial Assistance (AFE) will end in March 2026, as part of the schedule established in the Agreement and disclosed since its ratification. The AFE was a monthly payment created after the collapse of the Fundão dam, intended for eligible families.
Since 2015, BRL 71.9 billion has been allocated to reparation and compensation actions. This amount includes BRL 34.7 billion paid in indemnities and financial assistance across 800.9 thousand agreements. Samarco reaffirms its commitment to repair efforts and strictly complies with the actions set forth in the Agreement, which represents a significant step forward by providing legal certainty and finality to the reparation process.
The New Rio Doce Agreement allocates BRL 100 billion in payment obligations—transfers from Samarco over 20 years—for implementing definitive repair actions to be carried out by the public authorities, including initiatives aimed at economic recovery and strengthening the income of people affected by the collapse.
