Establishment delivered by Samarco expands the offer of consultations, tests, and therapies in the municipality itself, with a modern and accessible structure

Residents of Santa Cruz do Escalvado now have a new and important reinforcement in the municipality’s healthcare system. Handed over this last Saturday (03/14), the new Polyclinic significantly expands the structure of specialized service, offering more comfort, agility, and safety to patients and professionals alike.
With a complete investment amounting to BRL 18.9 million, the unit measures 2,400 square meters in built area, distributed among two pavements with an elevator and staircase, ensuring accessibility. Overall, the property contains twenty rooms for appointments, tests, diagnostics, and therapies, allowing the population to access multiple services without having to leave for other cities.
The specialties contemplated include gynecology, dentistry, ophthalmology, physical therapy, and speech therapy, in addition to expected psychology, nutrition, social work, and vaccination professionals. The expansion in the range of specialties addresses historical demands of the local population and helps reduce waiting times and travel distances.
“The conclusion of this work reinforces the fulfillment of commitments undertaken by Samarco. The delivery of the Santa Cruz do Escalvado Polyclinic is yet another action meant for full remediation for the affected territories. This is a public facility with high technical quality that will help strengthen the local health system”, states Samarco Project Execution manager, Marcelo Mol.
A modern structure and a more resolution-driven service
The Polyclinic was equipped with technology that allows for faster diagnostics and more definitive service. The unit contains a digital X-ray device, multiparameter monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, in addition to male and female observation wards and a stabilization room.
The dentistry sector will have state-of-the-art chairs, and the physical rehabilitation area contains equipment for physical therapy and functional training, expanding the possibilities of care and recovery for patients.
With that structure, the municipality is now offering more specialized care locally, reducing the need to refer patients to other cities and ensuring greater comfort for locals.
Municipal management and team training
After formalizing the handover, the management and operation of the Polyclinic remained under the responsibility of municipal public authorities. As part of the handover process, Samarco trained teams on the proper use of equipment, contributing to a safe and efficient start of activities.
The work is a requirement of the Corrective Operation License (LOC, acronym in Brazilian Portuguese) 1496/2020 and is part of the actions set out in the New Rio Doce Agreement.
