Samarco launches the second edition of the Catalog of Local Suppliers

The initiative brings together companies from Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo and is available on the new Samarco’s website

This Thursday (Jul-28), Samarco launched the second edition of the Electronic Catalog of Local Suppliers, with the participation of over 450 companies from different segments. The action is one of the initiatives linked to the Força Local program, which aims at developing and contributing to the generation of business in the territories where the company operates in Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais. The electronic catalog gathers information on segments such as clothing, tooling, civil, electrical, mechanical, communication, environment, information technology, occupational safety, health services, among others.

For the coordinator of Força Local, Elisangela Toledo, the catalog establishes a proximity between the suppliers and enhances the products and services of the regions. “The catalog is a tool that gives visibility to companies. We seek to stimulate and encourage new business opportunities that strengthen local commerce and foster the socioeconomic development of municipalities. We increased the number of participating companies by 42% compared to the first edition”, she said. The first edition was launched in 2021 and had more than 300 companies registered in the two states.

Samarco's Finance, Procurement and IT Officer Gustavo Selayzim stressed the opportunities created by Força Local. “We believe in Força Local as a program that creates opportunities to stimulate competitiveness and local development. The catalog is yet another initiative for local merchants to be increasingly prepared to meet possible demands from Samarco and other companies, thinking about the territory beyond mining. Together, we aim at leveraging good business and bringing positive results”, he stated.

From January to May of this year, Força Local held 17 lectures, workshops and seminars so far with 680 participants. Furthermore, there were BRL 301.4 million in purchases from 49 local suppliers.

Local service network

Artprint Papelaria, located in Guarapari, is participating in both editions of the Catalog, as explained by Sandro Butke, owner of the company. "We understand that the Supplier Catalog is of great importance to expand the business circle, both among local suppliers and to meet Samarco's demands. To be part of the catalog is to open the door to new opportunities and to leverage new business”, he added.

Businesswoman Marinês Oliveira, owner of the companies Recanto do Fazendeiro and Recanto do Animal, both in Mariana, also evaluated the program's action as positive. “The catalog is an incredible opportunity for the local entrepreneur, because in addition to working as a showcase for our products and services, it brings us closer to our suppliers and strengthens our community,” she said.

New Força Local page

Parallel to the second edition of the Catalog of Local Suppliers, the program also launched its new page on the Samarco’s website www.samarco.com/forca-local, which gathers the main information related to Força Local, such as lectures, seminars, business roundtables and partners, as well as the disclosure of scheduled agendas.

The Catalogs of Local Suppliers of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, published on the new page, include companies in the territories where Samarco operates in Minas Gerais - Catas Altas, Mariana, Ouro Preto and Santa Bárbara, and in Espírito Santo - Anchieta , Guarapari and Piuma.
